Today the Miami Heat visit Cleveland to take on LeBron James former team. The visit isn’t as substantial since his ‘Decision’ departure two-years ago, however, some recent comments have caused a stir in Miami and Cleveland that could bring the sequel of the “Decision II.”
“The question is could I see myself playing back (in Cleveland). I said ‘yeah’ in the sense of I don’t know what my future holds and I don’t want to take that (option) out. I answered truthfully,” James said Friday after the Heat’s shootaround at Quicken Loans Arena, where Miami plays Cleveland tonight.
“But it’s all about this season for me and it’s all about playing with this Miami Heat team and trying to win an NBA championship. The fans of Miami shouldn’t be worried about anything at this point.”
James is under contract with Miami for four more years, however, he as an opt-out clause in his contract in two-years which allows the all-star to become a free-agent. Let the count down begin for the Decision II coming to a theatre near you Summer 2014.
Marlins Park is looking nearly ready for pitchers and catchers with the laying of the field’s first plots of sod. Miami beat reporters got a look at the parks’ fresh plugs of grass, press box, scoreboard, Cribs-ready fish tank backstops, and that infamous Red Grooms home run feature in a Thursday morning tour.
Heat swingman Mike Miller has seen his fair share of injuries since he signed with Miami last season. During the offseason, Miller had thumb and shoulder surgeries and then a hernia procedure on the eve of camp.
On Wednesday, after practice Miller was seen with a huge ice bandage wrapped around his right hand. The injury occurred Monday in the win over New Orleans Hornets when Miller banged his hand against the backboard.
“An owe-eee,” was how he described it.
“We don’t know. We haven’t even checked. It’s good to go,” he said of the hand ailment. “It’s not good, but I’ll be fine. I told you, I’m not checking anything out any more.”
Miller doesn’t want hear about any injuries this season and seems inclined to play through anything.
The Miami Heat have loss 3 games in a row and while all hope is not lost this team has major problems right now. The health of Dwyane Wade is going to be an issue all season, coupled with Chris Bosh recently dissing LeBron James in a GQ Interview, and for some reason Erik Spoelstra is looking like he may not be the right coach for the team.
Now, it is far too soon to panic, but this team was supposed to be more mentally tough this season and it is clear that it is not. The officiating was horrible against the Denver Nuggets and did contribute 117-104 loss, but the bottom line is the team must play better. Hopefully, being back at home is just what the doctor ordered, but going against the San Antonio Spurs is always a difficult contest.
With Manu Ginobili out, the Spurs have simplified things on offense and now rely more on the contribution of Tim Duncan, Richard Jefferson, and Tony Parker. Gregg Popovich thrives on challenges and will have his team prepared to give the Heat all they can handle. This team is improving on defense each week.
Nobody is going feel sorry for the free fall of the Heat and they really cannot afford to have lengthy losing streaks in a shortened 66 game regular season. When things have been difficult this season, unfortunately they have folded. It will be interesting to see if the Heat show up because the Spurs definitely will. Game on!
The Heat returned home and got back to work in fixing the problems that hampered them during the 3 game losing streak. As for Dwyane Wade, he was in the trainers room getting treatment on his sprained ankle and he is out indefinitely.
The Miami Heat are in a funk with a two losing game streak and you can point to a myriad of issues that have caused the losses which include poor free throw shooting, lack of mental toughness, and simply losing focus. The team has to be a little tired from losing back to back overtime games to the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers.
The biggest concern for the team has to be Dwyane Wade’s health. Specifically, his left foot as the longer games go, and on back to back games, where he is proving to be highly ineffective late in games. It is going to be challenge for Erik Spoelstra to get everything figured out, particularly how to work around the Wade injury issue.
The energy at Staples Center is going to be amazing for this game as things could not have gone too much better for the Miami Heat the first ten games of the season by racing out to a 8-2 start. The team looks like the class of the NBA and they seem to have all the ingredients necessary to wind up raising the Larry O’Brien Trophy at season’s end.
The Miami Heat enter this contest after taking care of business against the New Jersey Nets 101-90. LeBron James is back and continued his MVP bid by posting 32 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists against the Nets. There is no word yet on when Dwyane Wade will return to the lineup.
This team just continues to overwhelm opponents with great defense and speed. Erik Spoelstra is doing a great job of motivating his team each game and certainly appear to be ready to head to the Bay and play well at Oracle Arena.
ESPN.com’s Marc Stein just release his weekly NBA Power Rankings and your Miami Heat are #1.
After a 8-1 start, the Heat edged out the Chicago Bulls for the #1 spot.
Coach Spoelstra has the team playing well, they lead the league in points and assists per game. With the exception of Wade — due to injury — the Big 3 and the bench looks very fluid. Bosh doesn’t look lost in the offensive and is hitting the boards a lot harder than last season. LeBron James is putting up MVP numbers and is scoring more efficiently than ever with career highs in shooting and free-throw percentage.
Wade is expected back in a few days, if the Heat can get him on track, this team is going to very dangerous.
For LeBron James, not only has South Beach become a second home, but a way of life.
